Whenever I share a menu centered around an individual theme, style, or specific type of cuisine, I receive one very common question:
“Do you ever get tired of eating the same kind of food for a week?”
I often think of how exciting it is to live in a time with access to a melting pot of cuisines. With globalization comes the diversity of food, and as someone who is food-obsessed, I don’t take it for granted.
As someone who enjoys variety, I understand the sentiment of craving foods of all styles in a given week—variety is delicious! And it’s something I’ve also grown into expecting at times as someone who lives in a place where access to diverse cuisines is quite literally 5 minutes down the road.
Fun fact: I grew up in a county where 1 in 4 restaurants serve Asian food (renowned Asian food, too!).
However, I also love themes and the variety within them. I don’t get tired of cooking or eating the ‘same kind’ of food for a week—I love it.
(However, I do get tired of eating the same meal every day, which is why I’m anti-meal prep [i.e., preparing a big batch of one dish and eating it throughout the week]).
All that said, I understand those who crave variety. I see you, and I hear you…
So, this week isn’t for familiarity or themes—it’s for those who crave variety.
