While developing the cinnamon bread featured a couple of weeks ago, I confirmed the fact that desserts require far more testing and overall development.
As they say…baking is a science.
That being said, to keep me from biting off more than I can chew (*ba dum tiss*), The Dessert Menu will now be sent out twice a month rather than weekly; however, this month, I’ll be sending both desserts of the month in the first two weeks of December, rather than every other week (to provide ample time for you to bake them for the holiday season).
Now, these Chewy Ginger Cookies are the product of three to four years of creating my annual dessert boxes. I’ve made some tweaks to this recipe over the years (like adding cornstarch for more chew, eliminating baking powder, using fresh ginger in lieu of ground dry ginger, and topping with turbinado sugar instead of flaky salt). Suffice it to say…they are my ideal ginger cookie. And they will be included in this year’s holiday dessert box.
